New campaign for western separatism
A Okanagan political group is spearheading a campaign to have B.C. and Alberta separate from the rest of Canada.
The group, calling itself 110 West, plans to organize public consultations in the two provinces. It's running advertisements in local newspapers, and has set up a Web page.

Joseph Hoachhousen is one of the group's founders.
"If you have a completely different philosophical idea, and you are also not being treated too well economically," he says, "then you have to take the necessary steps to correct that."
The group organized after the November federal election. Hoachhausen says it has no plans of becoming a political party.
110 West refers to the longitude of the boundary between Alberta and Saskatchewan.
