A Sussex man involved in a head-on collision on Highway 11 near Cocagne earlier this month has died of his injuries.

A Sussex man involved in a head-on collision on Highway 11 near Cocagne earlier this month has died of his injuries.

George Aker, 71, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Friday, according to RCMP Sgt. Jeff Johnston.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 47-year-old man from Bathurst, remains in hospital with serious injuries, he said.

The crash occurred on March 18 about 1 p.m., north of the Cocagne Bridge and closed the highway for several hours.

RCMP continue to investigate the cause.
