Saint John residents asked to conserve water

Residents and businesses on Saint John's west side are being asked to cut back on their water use this week.

Residents and businesses on Saint John's west side are being asked to cut back on their water use this week.

A recent electrical fire damaged equipment that pumps water from the Musquash watershed to the Spruce Lake watershed.

Water recommendations include:

Only run full loads of laundry and dishes

Don't water lawns and gardens

Don't wash cars or driveways

Don't fill pools

Take short showers and don't fill bath tubs

During summer, water from Musquash is used to supplement the west side's system.

Damage to the equipment was evaluated Tuesday and will be again on Wednesday.

The city said disinfection equipment wasn't affected, so water is still safe.
