The Saint John Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Rothesay Avenue Saturday afternoon.

Personal Auto & Tire Service Ltd. was engulfed in flames when crews arrived on the scene, according to district fire chief, Eric Garland.

"It's a large garage, three bays .. When crews arrived the building was already heavily engulfed."

Garland said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the roof of the garage caved in.

The business is located in a busy area with railway tracks running behind it.

"We asked for N.B Southern Railway to hold up through rail traffic," said Garland.

"The fire was knocked down and one crew was left on the scene at around 5:30 p.m."

The business  was closed on Saturday and no one was injured.
