The RCMP are ruling out foul play as a possible cause of the fire that destroyed Rogersville's municipal hall, fire station and RCMP detachment.

The RCMP are ruling out arson as a potential cause for the devastating fire that destroyed Rogersville’s municipal hall, fire station and RCMP detachment on Monday.

The exact cause of the fire is still unknown, according to the police. The RCMP, however, issued a statement on Tuesday that says investigators do not believe the fire was intentionally set.

The province’s Office of the Fire Marshal is continuing to investigate the fire to locate the precise cause.

Rogersville is in the process of replacing equipment damaged in the fire and a new home for its fire department, village hall and RCMP detachment.

Rogersville Mayor Pierrette Robichaud said on Tuesday that the community has been overwhelmed by the offers of help they have received since Monday’s fire.
