More than 1,200 homes and businesses in northern New Brunswick are still without power and it could be early Wednesday morning before all customers are back online, according to NB Power.

There is no word yet on the cause of the outages that started on Tuesday morning, but crews are investigating.

"We're moving crews from Moncton, Miramichi, Fredericton & 5 contractor crews to northern #NB to help with #outage restoration," the utility posted on Twitter.

The Acadian Peninsula was the hardest hit with 675 customers offline at 9 p.m., according to NB Power's outages website.  The Chaleur region was next with 554.

Also going through an outage was the Charlotte area in the province's southwest, with 280 customers cut off.

In total, 1551 customers had no power heading into the late evening.
