Moncton woman dies in mobile home fire

A woman died in a mobile home fire early Sunday morning in Moncton, N.B.

Man escaped with burns and smoke inhalation

Police say they are investigating what caused a fire at a mobile home in Moncton, N.B., early Sunday morning.

The Moncton Fire Department were called to a structure fire at 4 a.m. AT in White Frost Village, a mobile home park.

Platoon Chief Charlie Melanson said firefighters found the mobile home fully engulfed when they arrived at the location on Nancy Street.

Police said a man who had been staying at the residence got out of the home and was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

"Somebody had gotten out of the building, a male, with some burns and smoke inhalation," Melanson said.

A body was discovered inside the residence after the fire was extinguished.

Melanson said the victim was female, but police said an autopsy will be performed to help identify the person and the exact cause of death.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
