The Alward government announced Wednesday it will bump funding to New Brunswick universities by two per cent for each of the next two years.

Universities have long wanted predictable funding. Premier David Alward said he's fulfilling a promise to provide it, allowing universities to plan through to 2016.

“This is the first time in New Brunswick’s history that a government has moved forward with multi-year commitments,” Alward said.

The government has also set an annual tuition increase cap of three per cent for the next three years.
