A Moncton daycare caught fire shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
Fire crews arrived at Carrefour Des Amis at 28 Belmont St. to heavy smoke and flames throughout the building.
"Crews had the fire under control relatively quickly," said Moncton fire department division chief, Charles Leblanc.
Tobie Bastarache lives in the neighbourhood. She was in her kitchen when she realized that the daycare was on fire.
"I heard sirens and saw a bunch of smoke," she said.
"I was just thankful it was a Saturday and there was no children there."
Leblanc says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The building was empty at the time of the fire.
