A small fire that destroyed a vehicle and part of the house it spread to on the 400 block of Gibson Street in Fredericton is being investigated as arson.

Fire crews responded to a call at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday after a fire started in an unoccupied vehicle and spread to a nearby house.

Platoon captain Blair Sullivan said all occupants of the north-side home got out safely.

Police are investigating the incident as arson, spokesperson Mark Taylor confirmed.

A surveillance video circulating online shows two people pouring a liquid on the vehicle's windshield and then lighting it.

Taylor said police are aware of the video and ask anyone with additional information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

The street was closed for about half an hour as 17 firefighters put out the blaze and has now reopened.

The home suffered moderate damage to the siding, Sullivan said.
