Firefighters find woman's body after Val-d'Amour fire

The death of a woman is being treated as suspicious after her body was found in Val-d'Amour, N.B., Sunday.

Campbellton RCMP have not yet identified the deceased woman.

Firefighters found her body in the burned-out home when responding to fire call at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, RCMP spokesman Const. Hans Ouellette said.

Val-d'Amour is a small community in Restigouche County, just south of Campbellton.

The RCMP's major crime unit is investigating with a forensic identification unit at the scene of the fire. An autopsy will be conducted in order to confirm the woman's identity, Ouellette said.

He could not confirm if anyone else was home at the time of the fire.
