Saint John home heavily damaged in evening fire

Five people are seeking temporary housing after a fire on Tuesday evening on Saint John's east side.

Saint John fire crews were called out to a fire at an east end home at around 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Five people are seeking temporary housing after a fire on Tuesday evening on Saint John's east side. 

Fire crews responded around 5 p.m. to reports of heavy smoke and flames issuing from a wooden bungalow at 606 Michael Cres.

While fire crews managed to bring the fire under control, the three-bedroom home was heavily damaged.

There were no injuries. Five residents are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

Fire Platoon Chief Brian Wilson says the blaze is under investigation.
