Extreme cold weather warning issued for northern New Brunswick
Temperatures with wind chill expected to drop to -40 C
An extreme cold weather warning has been issued for northern New Brunswick.
"Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia," said Environment Canada in its statement.
Environment Canada says the temperature is expected to plunge overnight Saturday and into Sunday morning. The wind chill could reach -40 C overnight.
The warning reminds people to wear appropriate clothing for the weather, dress in layers, wear warm socks, gloves, a hat and scarf in cold weather.
It also says if a person gets wet, to change into dry clothing as soon as possible because you lose heat faster when you're wet.
