Body found at Tinker Dam identified as missing Maine girl

DNA tests have confirmed the body of a young girl found at Tinker Dam last week as that of three-year-old Alexandria Winship-Wright.

DNA tests have confirmed the body of a young girl found at Tinker Dam last week as that of three-year-old Alexandria Winship-Wright.

The child had been missing since Apr. 25, when it's believed she fell into the Aroostook River in the backyard of her home in Fairfield, Maine.

An eight-week search failed to located her body. Two weeks ago, members of a Maine search and rescue team flew over the river taking digital photographs.

Analysis of the pictures led to the discovery of the body.

Tinker Dam is in New Brunswick, less than a kilometre from the Canada-U.S. border.
