Dieppe man charged with attempted murder after woman stabbed in home invasion

A 22-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a woman being stabbed during a home invasion in Dieppe on Monday, say RCMP.

A 22-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a woman being stabbed during a home invasion in Dieppe on Monday, say RCMP.

Luc Nowlan of Dieppe appeared in Moncton provincial court on Tuesday and was also charged with eight other offences including:

  • Sexual assault.
  • Forcible confinement.

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

  • Break and enter.

  • Wearing a disguise with the intent to commit an offence.

  • Uttering threats.

  • Mischief.

  • Failure to comply with an undertaking.

Police were called Monday around noon to a home in the Dover Road area, where they located a woman suffering from what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, Const. Barry Mitchell said in a statement.

The woman was transported to the hospital.

The RCMP's police dog services were called in to assist with the search for the suspect. A man was arrested a short time later, said Mitchell.

Nowlan remains remanded in custody pending his next court appearance on May 21. 

The investigation continues.
