2 Halifax-area men facing charges
Two men from the Halifax area are facing charges after New Brunswick RCMP seized 552 cartons of contraband cigarettes during a traffic stop in Havelock.
Police pulled over a vehicle along the Trans-Canada Highway on Friday, Staff Sgt. André Potvin stated in a news release.
Investigators believe the cigarettes were destined for Halifax, he said.
The accused, aged 45 and 49, were both released on conditions and will appear in Moncton provincial court on Sept. 18 to face charges under the Excise Act and Tobacco Tax Act.
The investigation continues.
