Zack Kassian, a forward for the Montreal Canadiens, was involved in a vehicle crash on Sunday morning in Montreal.
Canadiens spokesman Donald Beauchamps said Kassian suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital, where he was seen by a team doctor.
The accident happened near the corner of Clanranald Avenue and Côte St-Luc Road in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood. A black truck smashed into a tree, and a witness saw Kassian step out.
The witness, on Twitter, said that Kassian was "bloodied and dazed" when he left the vehicle.
Const. Manuel Couture said the 20-year-old woman driving the vehicle may have been drinking. Police are waiting for blood sample results.
There was also an 18-year-old woman in the vehicle at the time of the collision.
