Terrebonne home explosion leaves nothing but rubble

An overnight explosion in Terrebonne, Que. destroyed one home and heavily damaged another.

Firefighters cannot confirm whether anyone was inside destroyed home

An overnight explosion in Terrebonne, Que. destroyed one home and heavily damaged another.

Yvon Garneau, who lives nearby, said he heard a "big boom" around 3:30 a.m.

But when he raced outside, Garneau said there was nothing but a pile of rubble where a house once stood.

The explosion also burned the roof of a neighbouring home. 

A spokesman for the local fire department said firefighters found suspicious elements on the scene.

The case has been transferred to the Terrebonne police. 

Firefighters have not confirmed whether anyone was inside the home at the time of the explosion.
