Neilson chocolate milk recalled due to listeria concerns

Saputo is recalling its Neilson brand chocolate milk because it may be contaminated with listeria.

The company says some recent cases of illness may be linked to its product.

The chocolate milk was sold in bags, totalling four litres. The best before date is June 1 and the UPC code is 0 66800 00047 3. No other product codes are affected.

It was distributed in Ontario and Quebec and was sold at restaurants as well as supermarkets.

Those who bought the chocolate milk at a retail outlet are being told to return it for a refund.

Listeria does not necessarily cause products to change in appearance or smell.

Possible symptoms include vomiting, nausea, fever, muscle pains, severe headaches and stiff neck. 

In severe cases, listeria poisoning can be fatal.
