Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu fire leaves families homeless

About a dozen families were left homeless after a fire destroyed their apartment building in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu on Wednesday night.

Fire official believe the blaze may have started in the kitchen of one of the apartments on De Normandie Boulevard.

Firefighters from several nearby towns were called in to help battle the flames.

Two people were treated for smoke inhalation.

The Red Cross was called in to assist residents in finding new accommodations.
