Montreal police officer charged with trafficking ecstasy
Philippe Bonenfant has been in the force for 6 years
A Montreal police officer has been arrested and charged with trafficking ecstasy on Thursday.
Philippe Bonenfant, 30, faces four charges, including two counts of drug trafficking. He was also found in possession of brass knuckles, considered an illegal weapon.
Bonenfant has been with the force for six years.
Representatives from the police union, the Montreal Police Brotherhood, were also in the courtroom watching the proceedings.
Montreal police say they are not commenting on the case because it's before the courts.
The brotherhood also declined to comment.
Bonenfant remains in custody and will be back in court Friday for his bail hearing.
