One person is dead after an accident in Pointe-aux-Trembles early Saturday morning.

The driver lost control of their vehicle before slamming into a tree at the intersection of Notre-Dame Street and Tricentenaire Boulevard in Montreal's east end.

A second person remains in hospital.

Montreal police are investigating.
