Montreal police are investigating the shooting, which they say deliberately targeted the victim.

The victim was walking with a friend along Joliette Street near Ontario Street when a car rolled by and someone inside opened fire. Despite his injuries, the man was able to run into a nearby alley to hide, police said.

Investigators have a rough description of a dark vehicle with a neon light around its licence plate.

Police are asking anyone with information to call  911.
