Montreal Canadiens will face Boston Bruins at 2016 Winter Classic

The Montreal Canadiens will face off against the team's arch rival the Boston Bruins at 2016's Winter Classic in Foxborough, Mass.

The Montreal Canadiens will face off against the team's arch rival the Boston Bruins at 2016's Winter Classic in Foxborough, Mass.

National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman made the announcement on Saturday.

He also released the outdoor schedule for the 2015-16 NHL season, including two Stadium Series games.

The Winter Classic will be held on New Year's Day next year, while the Minnesota Wild will host the Chicago Blackhawks at the University of Minnesota on Feb. 21 , and the Colorado Avalanche will welcome the Detroit Red Wings to Coors Field for a Feb. 27 game.

The Winter Classic will take place outdoors at the Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots football team.
