An evening hike took a wrong turn for two hikers Sunday night on Mont Wright near Stoneham, north of Quebec City.

Two women in their twenties went for a hike on a path when one of them fell down a slope and was hurt.

The other tried to help her friend but found herself stuck on a ledge.

Firefighters were able to rescue the woman who was hurt. She is expected to recover.

However, a firefighter attempting to rescue the second stuck woman found himself stuck as well.

Quebec provincial police were called in at around 8 p.m. to rescue the firefighter and the women.

Police brought in a helicopter to bring the pair to safety. The operation wrapped up just after 1:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Everyone is doing fine.
