Masked thieves steal explosives

A brazen explosive theft from a warehouse in the Laurentians north of Montreal may be linked to organized crime, police said.

A brazen explosive theft from a warehouse in the Laurentians north of Montreal may be linked to organized crime, police said.

 Five armed and masked men forced their way into a warehouse owned by a construction company on Friday evening, according to the Quebec Provincial Police.

 The men handcuffed two employees inside the warehouse, located in St. Sophie.

"Right afterwards, they took certain amount of explosives .. before fleeing inside two vehicles that could be Toyota Siennas," said Sgt. Benoit Richard.

 Investigators do not have a description of the suspects, but said the vehicles could be blue or white.

 Richard would not discuss what connection the robbery may have to organized crime.

The investigation is ongoing.
