Man arrested after stolen car and baby found

Montreal police have arrested a a man in connection to the theft of a car with a baby inside in the city's east end.

Montreal police have arrested a man in connection to the theft of a car with a baby inside in the city's east end.

Police say the 52-year-old suspect is known to police, and is being questioned by investigators.

The SUV was stolen from Breton Street near Langelier Boulevard around 1 p.m. Friday.

Const. Anie Lemieux said the two-month-old girl was inside the parked vehicle and her parents were nearby when a man jumped into the SUV and drove off.

He later abandoned the vehicle near Mont Royal Avenue and De La Roche Street, and was arrested shortly afterwards near Park LaFontaine.

Authorities say the baby girl was found sound and safe inside the SUV.  

She has been reunited with her parents.
