Stubborn fire rocks Kruger cardboard factory in LaSalle
Extinguishing blaze at cardboard factory proves a marathon undertaking

Montreal firefighters spent hours battling a difficult-to-control fire at the Kruger cardboard factory on Place Turcot near Notre Dame in LaSalle Sunday.
About 65 firefighters tackled the flames, which started at about 12:30 p.m. amid cardboard placed outside of the plant.
The fire did not spread inside the building but it remained stubbornly ablaze in spite of the efforts to extinguish it.
Montreal fire chief Martin Farmer told CBC that the fire would likely not be fully extinguished until later Sunday afternoon.
The fire squad planned to work with the company, which has special equipment designed to displace the cardboard.
Nobody was injured in the fire. The cause of the fire appears to be accidental.
The operation forced the closure of Notre Dame Street West between Angrignon and Monk.
