Jean Doré public visitation at Montreal City Hall
Mayor Denis Coderre says former mayor will be remembered for his commitment to Montrealers
Members of the public can pay their final respects to former Montreal mayor Jean Doré, who died on Monday.
His body is lying in state this weekend at city hall.
On Saturday, the visitation was only open to family, close friends of Doré and dignitaries. It is open to the general public on Sunday.
Doré died at the age of 70 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
"I think we have to recognize the great contribution of Mr. Doré to our city," said current Mayor Denis Coderre.
Coderre said Doré will be remembered for his transparency, his commitment to Montrealers, and his passion for sustainable development.
A funeral will be held for Doré on Monday at city hall.
Doré was mayor of Montreal from 1986 to 1994.
