Jacques-Cartier Bridge bike path crash kills 1
Head-on collision happened early Monday morning
A two-cyclist crash killed a man early Monday morning on the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.
The head-on collision happened around 4 a.m. on Monday on the bridge's bike path. The two cyclists were travelling in opposite directions on the bridge connecting Montreal to the South Shore.
Both cyclists appear to have been thrown from their bikes. The 55-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
Quebec's coroner's office will investigate the death.
The other cyclist, a 24-year-old woman, broke several bones and had other serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Neither cyclist was wearing a helmet.
The bike lane has since been reopened.
