Call centre workers at IQT Solutions learned Friday they are out of a job.

Hundreds of call-centre workers in Quebec and Ontario found out Friday they have been laid off by U.S. company IQT Solutions.

Employees in Trois-Rivières, Laval, and Oshawa, received notice Friday to gather their personal effects and leave their offices immediately.

Workers at the Laval centre told CBC News that Friday was supposed to be a pay day, but management told them they would not receive their wages.

Under Canadian labour law employers must give workers two weeks' notice, and provide vacation pay or four per cent salary equivalent upon severance.

IQT Solutions' headquarters are in Nashville, Tennessee, where the company also operates a call centre.

The company provides technical support and client services for other businesses, notably in the communications technology sector.
