Fire tore through two buildings in Montreal and Laval late Monday.

The first broke out on the fourth floor of an apartment building on Marie-Anne Street, in the Plateau neighbourhood around 9:30 p.m.

No one was hurt, but the investigation has been turned over to Montreal police, according to fire operations chief Ian Ritchie.

Ritchie says there were elements that appeared suspicious so the investigation was handed over to Montreal police.
