Fire destroys one home, damages another in Sainte-Julie

Both homes on Barcelona Street are total losses.

Fire officials say cause likely electrical, jacuzzi may be to blame

A fire in Sainte-Julie east of Montreal destroyed one home and heavily damaged another early Thursday morning.

Both homes are on Barcelona Street.

Local police say they received a call around 1 a.m. reporting the fire.

It began at the back of one home where there's a gazebo and spa and quickly spread, eventually jumping to the home next door.

Other homes on the street were evacuated as a precaution when a 450-pound propane tank next to one of the homes caught fire.

No one was injured in the fire and those affected are now in the care of the Red Cross.

Fire officials say cause likely electrical, possibly a jacuzzi malfunction.
