Fire burns at Montreal recycling plant
More than 125 firefighters are on the scene of a four-alarm fire burning at a paper recycling company on St. Patrick Street in Montreal's southwest area.
Hot weather is making it more difficult for firefighters to control the blaze. The temperature in Montreal shortly before 6 p.m. ET was 30 C, but it felt more like 38 C due to high humidity.
Firefighters are trying to prevent the fire from spreading.
Steve Zangwill, who lives next door to the recycling plant, said residents in his building were forced out by firefighters.
"I couldn't see a thing, like it was a thick massive fog. That caused some concern. Twenty minutes later, people in the building were notified they had to get out."
No injuries have been reported.
