House fire in Beauce leaves 1 dead

One man is dead after a house fire in Saint-Georges in the Chaudière-Appalaches region south of Quebec City.

Neighbours reported the fire in the house on 127th Street around 9 p.m. Monday night.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the intensity of the fire prevented them from entering the home.

The fire was brought under control around midnight and the man's body was found a short time later by firefighters.

The house was a total loss and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
