A man is in critical condition following a shooting in Côte-des-Neiges Sunday morning.

Police were called to the corner of Linton and Decelles avenues around 5 a.m.

When they arrived, the 32-year-old had been struck by several bullets, they say.

Montreal police spokesperson Const. Manuel Couture said when the first officer arrived, the man was bleeding profusely from both his upper and lower body.

The man, who police say is known to them, is being treated in hospital. The suspect fled before police arrived.

"What's particular in this event is that the first information that we have right now is the shooter was in a car when he fired shots in the victim's direction," Couture said, adding investigators still don't have a description of the vehicle.
