About the Townshippers Foundation

Townshippers Research & Cultural Foundation (TRCF), is a small community foundation working in the historic Eastern Townships since 1986. For over 30 years, Townshippers Foundation has helped fund grassroots projects that enhance the community. Funds raised go toward three main areas of impact. They are:

The mobile 'library kiosque' recently introduced at the Lennoxville Library. (Townshippers Foundation)
  • Community care initiatives: Initiatives that uplift the health, social services and elders in our community such as the Lennoxville & District Women's Centre and the co-op gym Santé Sutton.
  • Belonging and culture initiatives: Organizations and programs whose work bridges generations and unites the community around cultural development, the arts and heritage. These include the Festival de Jazz de Sutton and the Knowlton Literary Festival, the sole English-language literary festival between Montreal and Quebec City.
  • Empowerment and success initiatives: Townshippers Foundation is committed to empowering community members by providing grants for projects and activities that enhance our community through education, research, and youth. Initiatives include Phelps Helps, which was founded to combat the high drop-out rates in the Stanstead area of Quebec and the  mobile "library kiosque" recently introduced at the  Lennoxville Library.

During the month of December, CBC Quebec will be working with Townshippers Foundation to showcase stories of people in our community who are making a difference for our "Make the Season Kind" campaign. Every year, CBC selects two organizations for our Charity Drive— one serving the greater Montreal area and one serving a community anywhere in Quebec (outside of Montreal). This year, our Montreal-baed charity is Montreal City Mission. Click here to learn more about what they do.
