Authorities have arrested two people in a raid on Guacamole Y Tequila restaurants in the Eastern Townships, in an apparent crackdown on undocumented foreign workers.

RCMP and Canadian Border Services agents descended on the restaurant's locations in Magog and Sherbrooke Thursday morning. Two homes in Sherbrooke were also raided.

Neither the CBSA nor the RCMP have provided details of the arrests.

"Any person working illegally in Canada runs the risk of being arrested and deported," said CBSA spokesperson Dominic McNeely.

If charged and found guilty, anyone who hires an undocumented foreign worker could face up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
