Carole Thomas' complaint was made public in February. She came forward to say she had been assaulted in October on the same bike path where 23-year-old Jenique Dalcourt was found badly beaten. She was later declared dead in hospital.
Thomas criticized Longueuil police for failing to take her case seriously.
At the time, police spokesman Tommy Lacroix said there were "large grey areas in her story."
Police investigated, but rather than question her about inconsistencies in her story, they let the case drop.
Now, the crown has approved the charges. Thomas is expected to appear in court in July.
