Arson squad investigating Ahuntsic fire

Two suspects were seen throwing an object at the L'Acadie Boulevard business before the store caught fire.

Montreal police are investigating after two suspects launched an incendiary device at a Ahuntsic store overnight.

Firefighters were called to a Persian rug store on the corner of L’Acadie Boulevard and Louvain Street at around 11:45 p.m. Monday.

A witness told police two suspects were seen throwing an object toward the store. A front window was broken.  

Firefighters arrived on scene quickly and put out the flames.

The cause of the fire hasn’t been confirmed, but it appears to have been started by a Molotov cocktail, said Const. Mélanie Martineau of the Montreal police.

"The damage is located in the front of the store and nobody was injured," she said.

The suspects ran from the scene and have not been located. The arson squad is now investigating.
