Alleged copper thief dies at Hydro-Québec site
Quebec provincial police believe a man found dead at a Hydro-Québec facility northeast of Quebec City was killed trying to steal copper.
Police received a call at 1:30 a.m. Thursday after someone spotted a body outside the Hydro-Québec distribution centre in Saint-Tite-des-Caps.
Sureté du Québec Sgt. Ann Mathieu said investigators believe the man died during a theft attempt.
"One of the hypotheses is that the man was electrocuted while attempting to steal copper from a hydro pylon," said Mathieu.
Police are looking for another person who may have been with the man when he died.
Saint-Tite des Caps is located about 50 kilometres northeast of Quebec City.
