Montreal's festival season is in full swing, a newer kid on the festival block is gearing up for its fifth year celebrating entrepreneurship, innovation and technology.

Montreal's International Startup Festival will be playing host to some of the top startups from across Canada and around the world.

For the first time, Startup Fest is hosting Family Day— a free science, technology and innovation playground for the whole family.

This is much more than an open house. If you have a budding entrepreneur in your family, this is the chance to come and meet the people behind some amazing local startups based right here in Montreal and to take part in a pile of hands-on, interactive activities.

Here's the top 5 reasons to head on down to the Old Port on Saturday, July 18 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

1. GET SLIMED - Be a contestant in Go Viral! CBC Montreal and the guys behind the Moving Mind Studio YouTube channel are looking for contestants from 7 to 10 years old and from 11 to 13 years of age to compete for prizes, concoct green goo and get slimed. Sign-up here or enter for a wild card spot on-site at the CBC Montreal booth.

2. BUILD A ROBOT - Want to learn how to build a robot and compete with it, all within 3 hours? Then sign-up for the "Build Your Own Robot" Workshop with CRC Robotics Competition, which will run from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. and learn from our passionate volunteers and organizers how to build your unique robot!

3. MEET A DRAGON - Do you have a question for newest Dragon to join the Den? Manjit Minhas will be on site delivering a special Junior Keynote and an AMA (Ask Me Anything). Manjit is the co-founder and co-owner of Minhas Breweries and Distillery and a specialist in brand development, marketing, and retail negotiations.

4. TALK IN CODE - Join Kids Code Jeunesse for a workshop looking at the basics of "Scratch" computer programming. The Kids Code Jeunesse team will be on site to answer your questions about coding for kids. They will demonstrate how to program a robot, how hook up a Raspberry Pi and help get your family learning to code! Reserved spots are full, but you can still take part if you bring your own laptop (with an up-to-date version of Abode Flash).

5.TASTE "BURP" POTION - Yep, burp potion. Mad Science's demonstrations include creating foggy dry ice storms, making giant beach balls float in the air and mixing up special bubbly showers. If that's not enough, they will reveal their special recipe for slime
