Laval police are investigating a late night incident that ended in shots being fired.

Police said they received a 911 call from neighbours at about 11:30 p.m. who said they had heard what sounded like gunfire.

After arriving at the apartment block on Lévesque Boulevard West, officers found the door of one of the building’s apartments had been opened by force.

Inside the unit, police found a firearm and traces of blood.

Two male residents, both in their late 30s or early 40s, told police that a woman and two men had shown up at their door armed with a rifle and a hand gun.

"There was an exchange of words and at some point a few gunshots," said Laval police Sgt. Frédéric Jean.

The two residents were not injured.

According to police, two of the suspects fled the scene, and the third remained behind and ended up getting into a fight with the two residents before running away.3

Police are currently on the scene, meeting with witnesses. They say the two residents are not known to police.
