A private investigator in Winnipeg caught a dramatic crash on camera Tuesday afternoon when a truck and mini van collided near Chief Peguis Trail and Main Street.

Kristin Bibik, who works with Independent Investigators, had her dash-cam running around 12:30 p.m. when she was stopped at a red light.

"Just at that last moment, [I] managed to catch a glimpse of this truck just barreling beside me," she said.

The truck was headed southbound on Main Street and rear-ended a minivan, pushing it into the intersection.

"People, other civilians, got out of their vehicles to go and see what they could do to help," she said. "It looked like they were having a difficult time getting the driver's side door of the truck that rear-ended the minivan [open]. They couldn't quite get it open."

She said the traffic light had been red for at least 10 seconds before the crash happened.

Emergency crews and police were called to the scene. It's not known how many people were injured in the crash or the extent of their injuries.
