A woman was sexually assaulted in Winnipeg after waking up to find two men in her bedroom.

A woman was sexually assaulted in Winnipeg after waking up to find two men in her bedroom.

It happened at about 4:15 p.m. Monday afternoon at a residence on Beliveau Road in the St. Vital neighbourhood, according to police.

The woman reported that she woke up to find the men in her room, one of whom sexually assaulted her. She was able to fight him off and then both men fled the home, police said.

"It would be absolutely terrifying," said police spokesman Const. Rob Carver. "It was mid-afternoon, she was sleeping. She is a shift worker."

One suspect is described as five feet 10 inches with an average build and short, curly black hair. He weighed about 180 pounds.

The other suspect is described as being in his mid-30s with long hair.
