Winnipeg woman challenges Evander Kane to donate to baby formula drive

A Winnipeg woman is putting her own spin on Evander Kane’s controversial photo of him doing pushups with bundles of money on his back, in the hopes that the Jets forward will flex some charity muscle.
This week, Kane posted a photo of himself on his Instagram account doing pushups with bundles of U.S. currency on his back.
The pushup photo is a sequel of sorts to Kane's "money phone" picture from 2012, in which he's shown holding bundles of cash to his ear.

Krepart says she saw the latest picture after she returned home from collecting donations.
"It struck me as a little bit callous. You know, you're in a city where there's so much need," she told CBC News on Wednesday.
"It was an earnest challenge to him that I put online to say, 'Yo, money phone! Let's give back to the city.' I’m a season ticket holder, go Jets go, but let’s give back to the city that you represent."
Krepart, who collected 900 pounds of formula and raised $26,000 last year, was inspired to post a Facebook photo of herself doing pushups with boxes of baby formula on her back.
The caption with Krepart's photo called on Kane to take some of the cash off of his back and donate it to the formula drive.
"I wanted to reach through the screen and grab it and give it to Winnipeg Harvest," she said.
'Giving back is easy!'
Krepart later posted another photo of herself wearing pink Jets slippers, once again calling on Kane for donations.
She also offered two Jets tickets in exchange for an e-transfer donation to the formula drive. Part of the caption said, "See, @evander9kane? Giving back is easy!"
Kane, 23, is pulling in $6 million US in salary this season — the third in his six-year, $31.5-million contract.
Krepart wants to make donating to the Magnus Hay Formula Drive possible for everyone. She says she will pick up any donation, even five dollars — she’s available to contact for pick up on Facebook and at skrepart@gmail.com.
The West End Cultural Centre is also accepting formula and money donations. All of the donated formula stays in Winnipeg, she said.
