Cops find pellet gun, brass knuckles, hatchet in fleeing man's dropped bag

Winnipeg police found a bag of loot when a man walking in the West End spotted officers, ran away and dropped his duffel bag.

Man tried to hide in nearby apartment block, came out few hours later

Brass knuckles were among the items found in a duffel bag dropped by a 25-year-old man who fled from police on Tuesday. He was arrested and faces numerous charges.

Winnipeg police found a bag of loot when a man walking in the West End spotted officers, ran away and dropped his duffel bag.

The man was walking down Langside Street Tuesday evening carrying a gym bag when he spotted general patrol officers nearby. Police said the man saw the officers, ran away and dropped the bag before trying to hide inside a nearby apartment block.

Inside the bag, police found an airsoft rifle, brass knuckles, a hatchet, and credit and debit cards in various names.

A few hours later, the man came out of the apartment building and was arrested.

The 25-year-old faces numerous charges for possession of weapons and stolen credit cards, and for carrying a concealed weapon. He remains in custody.
