The Winnipeg Police Service is looking into the conduct of a member of its own K9 unit.

Police Chief Devon Clunis kept mum about the nature of the internal investigation, but said it has already been going on for several months.

"There's just an investigation relative to some practices within the unit and when that's completed, decisions will be made from there," said Clunis.

"When the time is right, if there's more information that needs to go publicly, then I will certainly make that available."
