New Year's gift: Winnipeg's 1st baby of the decade born at HSC Women's Hospital
Baby boy born at 12:18 a.m., weighs 7 lbs, 11 ounces

Winnipeg's first newborn baby of the decade has arrived, according to Shared Health Manitoba.
A baby boy was delivered to the Singh family at 12:18 a.m. at the Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg Women's Hospital.
"This is a very good gift on New [Year's Day]," said Rupinder Singh, the baby's father.
Sunaina Singh, the boy's mother, was due to give birth on Jan. 6, but she was induced on New Year's Eve.
The newborn weighs seven pounds, 11 ounces (3.5 kilograms), says Shared Health. He measures 53 centimetres, according to family.

Both mom and baby are doing fine.
"We are very happy," Rupinder said.
The parents arrived in Canada early last decade. Now they have two children here and another daughter in India, who they hope will move overseas this year.
Their relatives here and in India are thrilled to meet the new addition to the family.

Sunaina said her mom was overjoyed when they told her the news.
"She started crying. She's very excited to see her new family member," Sunaina said.
The child is not named yet, the family said. They hope to decide on a name for their bundle of joy by Wednesday night.
