Beautiful Winnipeg Beach is about to get even more beautiful. A new "pop-up" gallery is set to open along the waterfront, called Artscape Fine Art/Fine Craft, just in time for Winnipeg Beach's 100th anniversary celebrations.

The project comes under the organization SCAPE, or Stronger Communities through Arts Participation for Everyone, which holds art classes in the town.

The gallery and boutique will set up in a space in the Plaza, a light and airy room overlooking the park and boardwalk.

Organizer HelmaRoggeRehders, who also established the Wave Artist Studio Tour, sent out a call for submissions. 25 artists will be represented, most from Winnipeg, and a number from the area around Winnipeg Beach. The art will range from paintings and prints to jewellery, pottery and crafts, with all works being for sale.

The rent on the space comes from the artists themselves, who are each required to pay $180. The artists were chosen on a first-come-first-pay basis.

Rogge Rehders, who is a painter and print maker herself, feels the gallery will be a real draw, "because it's Winnipeg Beach's centennial year. We want everyone to come!

"You know how it all comes together, it's really focused on stronger communities, and building communities through arts participation," she said.

Artscape Fine Art/Fine Craft will be open June 1 to August 31 in the Plaza on Main Street. A grand opening celebration will be held on Saturday, June 14.
